Ingredients

  • 500 Grams Chingri/Prawn
  • 400 Ml Coconut Milk
  • 2 Bayleaf/ Tejpatta
  • 3 Green Chilies
  • 1/2 Inch Ginger Paste
  • 1 Medium Sized Onion sliced
  • 1 TSP Cumin/Jeera Masala
  • 1 TSP Garam Masala
  • 4 TSP Salt
  • 2 TSP Turmeric
  • 1 TSP Sugar
  • 1 TSP Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 TSP Ghee
  • 6 TBSP Mustard Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash Chingri fish, and add Salt and turmeric in Chingri fish and let it rest for 5 mins.

  2. Heat the mustard oil in the pan and shallow fry Chingri fish for 10 -15 mins in medium heat till the color of Chingri fish changes to whitish and is cooked. Take out the chingri from pan.

  3. In same pan add oil, fry Bayleaf, sliced onion, ginger paste, green chilies, add jeera powder, garam masala and fried chingri, add coconut milk and let it boil and reduce the milk. Add sugar and red chili powder and let the milk reduce till the oil gets separated from the curry. Add Ghee and some coriander leaf for garnishing.

  4. The Chingri Malai curry is ready to be served with hot steamed rice.
